Fund for Cameron Park at the El Dorado Community Foundation
The El Dorado Community Foundation is proud to announce the new Fund for Cameron Park. This Fund was created by the families of two prominent community leaders who lived, worked and contributed much to Cameron Park and who are now deceased. Ruth Cameron and Gale Guthrie will be forever memorialized through this fund as grants are made through it for future projects. The wording specifically states that,
“The purpose of the fund is to improve the quality of life for residents of Cameron Park.”
Because the Fund was created at the Community Foundation, which is a non-profit entity, all contributions made to the Fund are tax deductible. It also means that all of the gifts received will be pooled and invested in a long-term account which means that earnings from the Fund will continue to grow for many years to come.
The Fund is overseen by an advisory committee comprised of representatives from both families as well as a representative from each of the following: the Cameron Park Community Services District, Cameron Estates Community Services District, Cameron Park Rotary Club, and Soroptomists of Cameron Park. “With construction at last underway for the Cameron Park Community Center, Cameron Park and its residents are now feeling a strong, united sense of community”, Karen Guthrie, one of the advisors, shared recently.
It’s good news knowing that good people are doing good things right here at home.
If you would like to be part of this effort to improve Cameron Park or to honor Ruth Cameron or Gale Guthrie, you may contribute any amount to the Fund for Cameron Park by donating online or at the El Dorado Community Foundation office.
Questions can be answered by contacting William Roby, Director of the Foundation at 3097 Cedar Ravine, Placerville, (530) 622-5621.
