Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Women’s Fund El Dorado?

The Women’s Fund El Dorado is committed to
expanding and promoting the participation and
financial impact of women for the purpose of
supporting community philanthropy. We may not be
wealthy as individuals, but with our pooled funds, we
become major donors with the potential for impacting
the quality of life on the Western Slope of El Dorado County.

What purpose will the fund serve in the community?

Through a simple grant making process, the annual
proceeds from the Women’s Fund membership will
offer significant financial support to community based
organizations dedicated to addressing pressing issues
facing the communities of the Western Slope of
El Dorado County.

Is the Women’s Fund a 501c3 organization?

The Women’s Fund is a fund of the El Dorado
Community Foundation which is a non-profit 501(c)3
organization. The Foundation will be responsible for
the clerical, legal and financial oversight of the
Women’s Fund.

Will the Women’s Fund focus on women’s issues only?

Women’s issues will not be the only issues funded.
Funding will be available to non-profit organizations
offering services which benefit all people on the
Western Slope of El Dorado County.

Who qualifies to be a member of the Women’s Fund?

Anyone (businesses, men, children) can become a member
of the Women’s Fund. Each membership receives one
vote in the grant making balloting.

How will we all agree on what programs to fund?

Each member has one vote. Once the funding focuses are
determined each year by the vote of the membership,
Requests for Proposals will be sent to agencies which
provide services in the chosen areas. When the proposals
are returned and reviewed by the grants committees,
members will receive a ballot (through email if possible).
Members will return ballots with their choices noted.
Funded agencies will be announced in June of each year
at the Awards Presentation reception.

Is the Women’s Fund in competition with other “women’s groups” (e.g. Soroptimist, AAUW etc.)?

All of these organizations, including the Women’s
Fund, are focused on the strength of bringing women together
for charitable purposes. The goal is to encourage as many
women as possible in our community to become engaged in
philanthropy which in turn will offer greater resources to
the county.

Is it possible to sponsor other members?

The Women’s Fund encourages you to sponsor your
daughters, granddaughters, family members, friends,
employees, peers etc. One of the goals of the Women’s
Fund is to develop generations of women philanthropists.

Does the Women's Fund share my personal information?

The Women’s Fund will not disclose any personal information
outside of the organization, including phone numbers,
email addresses and mailing addresses.
