Community Needs forum at Sequoia, 6pm
First in the WFED Education series
The WFED Education Committee has made plans for a "Community Needs Forum" on the 25th of March. Please mark your calendars. This event will present a forum of four individuals, each versed in one of the grant areas for the focuses on the 2010 grant making. Here is a list of presenters:
Basic Needs: Matt Huckaby (Matt's nonprofit, The Center, is not eligible for funding this year because they have been awarded a grant two years in a row.)
Education: Dr. Vicki Barber, Superintendent of El Dorado Schools.
Health/Wellness: Dr. Jon Lehrman, local family practicioner and health care advocate who is involved in many aspects of medical care for members of our community.
Women & Girls: Ms. Judy Pickett, a local resident who has done much in our community and nationwide to highlight the need of early awareness for breast cancer.
We have asked these speakers to talk to the needs in these areas. These are areas that our membership will be asked to vote on in the May ballot. This type of education will now be one of the tools the membership will be offered in order to make well informed decisions.

Kelly Corrigan Event at the Union Mine High School Theater, 6pm
Second in the WFED Education series
Kelly Corrigan is a mother, writer and breast cancer survivor. She will be speaking about her cancer experience and about her inspirational memoir, The Middle Place. All proceeds go to benefit local cancer support organizations, Threads of Life and the Pink Ribbon Fund.
