The El Dorado Community Foundation is an accredited Community Foundation. We are committed to financial security, transparency and accountability.
QUALIFIED & CERTIFIED
We are proud to have achieved certification as a Community Foundation by the National Standards Action Team of the Council on Foundations. These standards have also been adopted by the League of California Community Foundations. The El Dorado Community Foundation meets the 60 requirements for the standards established. Specific demonstrable characteristics, practices, or goals are required in six areas of organization and operation:
- Mission, Structure, and Governance
- Resource Development
- Stewardship and Accountability
- Grantmaking and Community Leadership
- Donor Relations
We are honored to be recognized by these national and regional organizations which promote and support excellence in philanthropy.
The Council on Foundations
The Council on Foundations is formed of approximately 1,600 independent operating community, public and company-sponsored foundations and corporate giving programs in the United States and abroad. It is a national organization that exists to expand, enhance and sustain the work of the philanthropic field and to ensure that policymakers understand the important role they play in advancing society.
National Standards accreditation represents excellence in community philanthropy to those who acquire that recognition of operational excellence.
LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY FOUNDATIONS
This mission of the LCCF is to promote and strengthen community foundations in California. Through collaboration and shared learning among member foundations and building partnerships with private and public entities, they strengthen philanthropy and support building healthy communities throughout California. We are proud to join them in this mission.
The El Dorado Community Foundation Board and staff would also like to assure you that our financials undergo a yearly independent outside audit prepared in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). We are proud to report to you that our 2015 Audit once again obtained a “clean opinion.” Access the Foundation's financial documents below.
Run by leading citizens and professionals
Like all community foundations, we are overseen by a volunteer board of leading citizens and run by professionals with expertise in knowing our community's needs. We go beyond simply making grants that advance charitable activities: we also identify current and emerging issues, stimulate resources to address those needs and help our region prepare for the future. We are among over 600 community foundations across the nation which serve as broad-based, charitable vehicles for donors of all kinds in their geographic areas.
